The MC5

Now your a kid constatnly searching for music that is faster and louder and you find out the most intense band to record music was formed in 1964 and broke up in 1971.

The Motor City 5, possibaly one of the most overlooked and uncredited bands in the history of rock n' roll, were one of the first bands to play a genre of music called punk. At the time they didnt know it but their angry version of psycadelic music would go on to be one of the biggest sub- genres in history. Their music was so powerful that they single handedly caused a race riot, they were white panthers, in downtown Detroit. They caused such an uproar that the government took every opportunity they could find to put them in jail, their manager was senteced to nine years in jail after being charged with possesion of one joint.

Wayne Krammer, Fred "Snoic" Smith, Rob Tyner, Michael Davis, and Dennis Thompson made up the classic lineup of the band. This lineup released three full length studio albums beginning with Kick Out The Jams, followed by Back In The U.S.A. (a rip on The Beatles), and ending with my favorite, High Time.

Although they may not have had the talent some bands had in that time, the MC5 made up for it by having plenty of attitude. I've heard plenty of covers of the song Kick Out The Jams and none of them seem to reach the same level of intensity the MC5 got.
